Madame Deschanel needs color

Hello everyone.  I am here today to ask for opinions.  I have been getting a lot of line art done from artists on deviantART.com so that I can do my own coloring.  It has been going well so far.  But I just hit a wall with one character.  She is called Madame Deschanel and I can't decided what kind of color pallet to go with for her oufit.  Take a look.

She is a character from the Girl Story I am writing.  As you can see a few of the colors I already knew.  I knew she would have a fair skin tone, pale blonde hair and gray eyes.  I also knew from the start the colors for her helmet, black face divided by a gold cross and when I saw the neat little swirly designs the artist added I knew they had to be red.  But for the rest of her outfit I am not sure what colors to go with.  I considered blues or white cream color or maybe pastels.
